Ala Jaza, born in 1987 in Santo Domingo, is a Dominican artist who has navigated the intersection of merengue de calle, bachata, and tropical music with considerable commercial success. Coming of age during the rise of urban Dominican music, he developed a style that blended the raw street energy of merengue de calle with the romantic pull of bachata, creating a hybrid sound well suited to the tastes of younger audiences.
