Carlos Silver is the professional name of Carlos Rafael Silver Encarnación, a Dominican ballad singer and composer. His recording career includes the 1999 album «Una oportunidad» and songs such as «Tres palabras» and «Gotas de pena». He is also known for singing marathons under the slogan «RD no se rinde», through which he has sought Guinness World Records certification.

Recordings and repertoire

«Una oportunidad» appeared in 1999 through «J&N» and «Sony». Its nine tracks include «Tres palabras», «Lento va el dolor», «Si tú supieras», «Gotas de pena», «Solo tú», «Otra vez», «Vivir con ella», «Quién eres tú» and the title song. The credits identify Elvis Cabrera as producer and vocal director, alongside his engineering, piano and keyboard work. Silver has developed a repertoire centered on romantic songs.

Songs and television

His YouTube channel includes performances of «Quiero», «Anda suelto el amor», «La chimenea» and «Gotas de pena». In his introduction to «Quiero», he announced a project called «Renacer». In June 2016 he presented the press with a five-song promotional disc combining «Quiero» with four songs from his repertoire. A professional feature published by Guinness World Records in 2020 records appearances on «Despierta América», «Sábado Gigante» and «El show de Cristina». He also describes himself as an arranger and pianist in his professional profile.

The singing marathons

In December 2016 he undertook a marathon inside a glass enclosure outside Santo Domingo's Sambil shopping center. He tried again between March and April 2019 at Parque Eugenio María de Hostos and sang for more than one hundred hours in December 2020 at Plaza Juan Barón as part of «Dominicana Rompe». None of those three efforts received Guinness certification. Reports of the 2019 and 2021 decisions identified noncompliance with permitted rest intervals. Elapsed performance time and official validation of the record are distinct outcomes.

Recognition and recent performances

In January 2021 he received recognition from the Dominican Presidency's Dirección General de Proyectos Estratégicos y Especiales, PROPEEP, for his efforts during the singing challenge. Officials delivered the distinction on instructions from President Luis Abinader; it was an institutional recognition separate from Guinness certification. In April 2026 he presented «Vientos de Bohemia» at Coconut Beach Restaurant in Boca Chica, with guests Indhira and Armando Féliz and production by Santo Israel.

Legacy

Silver's career combines ballad performance with a media presence associated with vocal endurance challenges. His recordings and concerts place his musical work beyond those attempts, while distinguishing his repertoire, the recognition he has received and the records he has sought to achieve.
