EliaCiM is a Dominican singer-songwriter and producer born in Santo Domingo who has lived in the United States since he was seventeen. He was nominated for the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist in 2013 for his self-titled debut album, and has written songs for artists including Luis Fonsi, Ricky Martin, and Ricardo Montaner.

Origins and training

EliaCiM grew up in a home where being a musician was considered normal. He began on guitar and piano as a child and names the church, where he had access to a stage and to many instruments at six or seven years old, as a great school. He started by writing short stories that gradually became melodies and songs, and he studied sound engineering and music production. He left the Dominican Republic at seventeen to pursue music.

Path to a debut

In 2008 he met the producer Dan Warner, who became his artistic guide, and two years later he moved to Miami to work with the production duo known as Los Gringos, Dan Warner and Lee Levin. In 2011 he signed with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which led to writing sessions for established artists. Among the songs he has written for others are «Un Nuevo Sol», for Samo of the band Camila, «Fugitiva», for Top Blanco, and «Desde Que Se Fue», for Puerto Rican artists. His songs have been recorded by Luis Fonsi, Ricky Martin, Ricardo Montaner, Amaury Gutiérrez, and Ednita Nazario.

His debut album, «EliaCiM», came out in February 2013 on his own label, Beautiful Cinco Records, and earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist that year. It includes «La Bella», a tribute to the Dominican Republic that speaks of the beauty of Quisqueya and of longing for the country while living abroad, which was used as the theme of the Ministry of Tourism's international promotion campaign in 2014. The album was promoted with tours in the United States, Central and South America, and Europe.

Later recordings

He continued as an independent artist, splitting his time among Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. In August 2016 he released «Se Le Acabaron las Flechas a Cupido», produced with Dan Warner, and in March 2017 «¿Qué Voy a Hacer Conmigo?», recorded at Kaleidoscope studio in New York and produced with Chris Hierro, with mixing by Javier Garza and mastering by Felipe Tichauer. Its arrangement moves from an intimate acoustic opening to a Caribbean groove with rock guitar.

In October 2020 he released «No Puedo Vivir Sin Tus Besos», a salsa written and produced by himself with arrangements and musical direction by Isaías Leclerc, distributed by La Oreja Media Group; it was his first venture into salsa. His catalogue also includes «Quiero», which has a bachata version, and in concert he singles out «Quiero», «Luces», and «Un Día de Estos» as the songs that connect him most with his audience. In November 2025 he released «Regresa Ya», a ballad co-written with the Venezuelan songwriter Juan Carlos Soto, with a video shot in New York and directed by Joseph T. Luna of Luna Visual, and announced an EP of six to eight songs.

Style

EliaCiM's writing is romantic and unhurried, built on an acoustic, organic sound in which the intimate speaks in an honest voice. He describes nostalgia as the most honest truth in music, and he also paints and writes.

Legacy

EliaCiM is one of the Dominican songwriters of the diaspora whose songs have been recorded by major Latin artists, and he calls «La Bella» his greatest love letter to his homeland.
