Esteban Matos is a Dominican worship leader, singer and professional pianist who records as Esteban Matos Music. He has been in worship since childhood.

Christian merengue

The part of his catalogue that matters most here is the part that is merengue. Dios Ha Sido Bueno exists as a versión merengue, and Talita Cumi was released as Talita Cumi Merengue — the Aramaic of Mark 5:41 set to the national rhythm. Papi Rico and Agachao, both from 2025, carry titles no one would mistake for worship ballads.

Dominican Christian music is overwhelmingly built on the imported worship-ballad template. Artists who put the gospel into merengue instead are doing something specifically Dominican with it, and there are fewer of them than the size of the genre would suggest.

Medley de Adoración

Released in October 2024 as an EP containing a single track twelve minutes long. A medley is how worship is actually led in a room — one song running into the next without stopping — and releasing it as a recording rather than a set of separate singles is an unusual thing to commit to a catalogue.

Nuevo Corazón

Recorded with 150 Live Session and released in February 2026 through Unlimited Music Label, it is his widest-reaching record and was covered by the Dominican press on both sides of its release. It should not be confused with the song of the same name by Smerli Chal, which is unrelated.
