Biography

Orquesta Jicarada is a Dominican merengue ensemble whose documented discography includes «Realizando un Sueño», issued on CD by «Brasanel Records S.A.» in 1995 under catalogue number JIC326CD.

Realizando un Sueño

The album features romantic songs including «Cariño del Alma», «Hipócrita», «Luna de Miel» and «Perdóname». It opens with «Homenaje Bomba», described on the rear artwork as a tribute marking the fifteenth anniversary of Los Hermanos Rosario.

Album credits

The rear artwork credits Israel Casado with the adaptation of «Homenaje Bomba» and the arrangements of seven other tracks. Fortunato Rojas is credited as arranger of «Me Gusta» and «Perdóname». The name Ronny Moramis appears in parentheses for «Hipócrita», «Me Gusta» and «Perdóname»; six other songs bear the notation «D.R.», without an author identified in that source.

New York career

In August 2005, Dominican newspaper reports on Ronny Moreno’s career listed Jicarada among the ensembles with which he had worked in the United States. Hoy placed his time with Jicarada in New York. These accounts document the band’s presence in the diaspora’s music circuit, without identifying the lineup that recorded the 1995 album.

Legacy

«Realizando un Sueño» preserves a record of Jicarada’s repertoire and its arrangers’ contributions. The edition documents the printed titles and credits without assigning names to the four people pictured on the rear artwork, who are not identified there.
