Keren Montero, born March 12, 2006 in Los Mina, Santo Domingo Este, is a Dominican worship singer and songwriter. She won the second season of Dominicana’s Got Talent at fifteen and went on to compete on America’s Got Talent: All-Stars, which makes her the rare Dominican worship artist whose career began on national television rather than inside a congregation.
The church first
She grew up in a Christian household and started singing in church. She has put the relationship plainly: the church was her first stage, and it has been her platform since. The talent show did not discover her so much as move her from one audience to a much larger one.
Dominicana’s Got Talent
In the opening episode of the second season, the judge Nashla Bogert pressed the Golden Buzzer for her, sending her straight to the semifinals. She came through her semifinal on February 19, 2021 as the most-voted contestant of the night, singing Mi Redentor Vive on a staging built to simulate clouds, performed from a swing — a technical problem as much as a musical one, and she has talked about the rehearsals spent measuring the swing so the voice would land in the right place.
She won the season. Asked what she would do with the prize, she named three things: rebuild the family home, extend her church building, and start her music career.
America’s Got Talent: All-Stars
The 2023 All-Stars edition brought her back, this time to an American audience. She sang Rescue, the Lauren Daigle song, reached the semifinals, and drew a considered response from Simon Cowell, who told her to take a song and make it her own. Her own framing of the stakes was direct: she was known at home, and this was the chance to be known further out.
