Biography

Lucien Le Grub is an Argentine-born electronic music producer, DJ and record label founder who established his career in the Dominican Republic, becoming a central figure in the underground tech-house and minimal scene of Punta Cana and Santo Domingo. As the co-founder of Tanama Records and an active producer for international imprints, he helped build a Caribbean platform for underground dance music and collaborated extensively with Dominican electronic artists.

Origins and arrival in the Dominican Republic

Born Luciano Matías Cuzcueta on April 29, 1986, in Argentina, he developed a background spanning music production and visual arts. Drawn to the emerging electronic music movement in the Caribbean, he relocated to the Dominican Republic, settling in the eastern coastal area of Punta Cana and Bávaro, where he began performing and organizing underground electronic showcases.

Tanama Records and the Punta Cana underground

In Punta Cana, Cuzcueta co-founded Tanama Records, an independent imprint conceived to release groove-focused tech-house and minimal techno while providing a dedicated platform for local and Caribbean producers. Through Tanama Records and its regular club showcases at venues such as Imagine Punta Cana and Huracán Café, he championed a tight, percussion-heavy sound that connected Dominican nightlife with global electronic trends. He also expanded his curatorial reach across the region through the Bávaro Sounds Radio Show on FM 96.3.

Production and collaborative work

In the studio, Le Grub developed a prolific partnership with Dominican producer Jee Bear, yielding joint releases including the Caripotawa EP in 2018, the My Language EP and Captain EP in 2019, and singles such as No Rush, Uhh Yeah, Cream and Need You. His catalogue expanded to respected international labels including Yet! Records, Piston Recordings and Smiley Fingers, with remixes contributed by European and Latin American selectors such as Adapter and Nate Chapman. Working parallel as a graphic artist under his own name, he also designed cover artwork and visual assets for various electronic music imprints.

Festival presence and A&R

Le Grub was a recurring selector on the festival circuit, performing at multiple editions of the Meet! Festival in Punta Cana alongside international techno and house acts. Alongside his own label duties, he served as an A&R manager for Yet! Records, signing and developing talent across the deep-tech and minimal landscape.
