Luis Tomás Oviedo Ducoudray, known as Luitomá, is a Dominican singer-songwriter from Santo Domingo. His songs draw on rock, pop, and popular song, and are tagged on his own releases as singer-songwriter, trova, indie, and Caribbean. His work is built around what he describes as sweet nostalgia in songs that taste of the Caribbean.

Career

Luitomá began releasing studio work in November 2018 with the single «Picnic», presented as the first studio single ahead of a debut record, produced by Vic Contreras with Isaac Hernández on guitar, Mario Lui on drums, and Gian Rojas on keyboards. It was followed by «La Pena» (2019), «Altar» (May 2020), and «Helen» (August 2020), which has an official video and features Maya Oviedo on vocals, and by «La Turba» in February 2021.

In June 2022 he released the EP «Canción Umbral», with five songs: «Mañana», «La Pena», «Helen», «Altar», and «No Hace Mal». It was produced by Vic Contreras and recorded at Vibrar Studios, the Centro Cultural de España en Santo Domingo, and Caribe Alternativo, with the bassist and drummer Sosa Más Nada, the drummer Edgar Molina, and guest musicians on double bass, bandoneon, clarinet, cello, and trumpet. Luitomá describes the title as the space of potential, the moment that bites just before the music enters.

He continued with «La Última Canción Que Te Mando» (July 2022), produced by Guillermo Casado; «Máquina de Seguir» (February 2024), produced by Sosa Más Nada in an electronic format inspired by hip-hop and lo-fi while keeping the melodic essence of trova and romantic song; and «Flores En El Pelo» (May 2025), produced by Sosa Más Nada with percussion by Edgar Molina and backing vocals by Berowshka. His releases have been issued with the support of Caribe Alternativo, a Dominican label and artist-management company.

Live performance

In March 2018 he shared the bill at La Espiral in Santo Domingo with the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Fernando Madera for the concert «Entre Islas», which brought together artists from the two islands. He has also performed acoustic sessions for Vinyl Republic and Ventana RD. In 2026 he played at the Fiesta de la Música of the Alianza Francesa de Santo Domingo on 20 June at Zona Bici, at The Green Room in Piantini on 4 July, and at the Barroom in Santo Domingo on 30 July, and he took part in a literary evening of the Colectivo El Arañazo in April.

Legacy

Luitomá belongs to the independent Dominican scene of singer-songwriters who release through small labels and independent studios, writing in a personal register that connects trova and Caribbean song with indie production.
