Manny Peña, who records as ADPI, is a Dominican singer and songwriter from Santiago de los Caballeros, born on 13 September 1984. He works in urban music and releases everything himself, without a label behind him.

The singles

His catalogue is a run of singles rather than albums, and it is tightly dated: Una Noche, Contigo and Muévete Heavy across the middle of 2018; Luna, Karma, En Mi Cama, Muévelo and Prakata through 2019, closing that year with Hoy Es Viernes y el Cuerpo Lo Sabe; 0 Grado at the start of 2020, Cuando No Estuvieras that August, and Gatubela in June 2021.

Twelve releases in three years is a working pace, and the titles sit squarely in dembow and reggaetón even though he bills himself as a cantautor — a songwriter rather than a performer, which is not the usual self-description in that end of the music.

What is on the record

Beyond the releases there is very little. He has no press coverage, no interviews and no charting to his name, and his accounts are small and largely private.

That is worth stating rather than dressing up. Most of the artists in Dominican urban music are at this scale — a catalogue, a barrio, a phone — and the ones who break out are the exception rather than the rule.
