Pamel Mancebo, who performs as Pamel, is a Dominican singer-songwriter and guitarist, the son of the composer Palmer Hernández. He began recording in 2012 and released his first album in 2015, and he combines a career as a romantic pop singer with work as a songwriter and session guitarist.

Origins and training

Pamel grew up around music: his father is the author of «Ven, Devórame Otra Vez» and «Aquel Viejo Motel», and his mother sings. He studied guitar and at sixteen joined the band of Chichi Peralta as guitarist. Four years later he moved to Ilegales, and he also played with Wason Brazobán.

Discogs credits him on acoustic guitar on albums by Barak and William García (both 2013) and on guitar on Prince Royce's «Alter Ego» (2020) and «Llamada Perdida» (2024), and lists him as a writer on Chichi Peralta's «De Aquel Lao' del Río» (2009).

Solo career

He recorded his first song, «Con Él», in 2012 and posted a video of it on Facebook; the response encouraged him to keep writing, and for his first two years he promoted himself only through social networks. In August 2015 he released his first album, «Pamel», on Orange Music: twelve songs, most of them his own, one with Pavel Núñez, and some by his father.

His wider exposure on radio came with «Tiene que Ver Contigo», a pop ballad sung as a duet with Núñez. The connection began when Pamel wrote «Sigue Siendo», which Héctor Aníbal recorded, and the two then wrote the song together. In homage to his father he recorded a pop ballad version of «Devórame Otra Vez». His singles include «Loca», «Menor que Usted», «Por Mi Parte», and «La Persona Equivocada».

His second album, «Urgente y Necesario» (2017), includes a merengue, which he says reflects his wish to keep Dominican roots in his repertoire. In late 2023 he released his third, «Íntimo», with songs such as «Ando» and «Hasta Luego», a duet with Marisolís. He has said he is open to any genre but will not record songs with vulgar or offensive content.

Live work and recognition

Pamel has shared bills with Juan Luis Guerra, Pablo Alborán, and Alejandro Sanz. In 2024 he was nominated for the Premios Soberano in the category of composer and/or lyricist. In September 2026 he presented «Las 2P» with Pavel Núñez at the Hard Rock Café in Santo Domingo, a full concert conceived as a meeting between two generations of Dominican singer-songwriters and the first time the two shared a whole show, after several joint guest appearances.
