Raúl Grisanty (Manzanillo, 14 December 1951 – 14 July 2026) was a Dominican singer, comedian, presenter and television producer. He was billed as El Galán de la Canción, and he worked for more than five decades across three trades that rarely sit in one career.

The singer

He recorded five albums and more than sixty songs. Como Quien Pierde Una Estrella, Corazón Mágico, Atrévete a Decir Que No, Un Día Inolvidable and Cuando Se Acaba El Amor are among them, and he cut a homage to Sandro with Porque Yo Te Amo.

The classification of him moves depending on who is writing: some accounts call him a balada singer and others a bachatero. Both fit. He also recut Como Quien Pierde Una Estrella as a mambo flamenco, which fits neither.

The comedian

Alongside Ángel Muñiz he changed what Dominican television comedy looked like, on Telerejalo and the programmes that came after it. That is a separate career from the singing and it reached a different audience.

The producer

He produced and presented for decades, and his own programme, Así Es Raúl Grisanty TV, was still running on Canal 8 on weeknights at the time of his death. Before all of it there was baseball; Dominican obituaries traced his life through the game, the music and the screen in that order.

Asked how he wanted to be remembered, he did not answer with any of the three. He said he wanted to be remembered as a decent man.
