Rocío Arias is a Dominican worship singer from El Tamarindo, a working-class neighbourhood of Santo Domingo. After setting singing aside for years, she auditioned for the third season of Dominicana's Got Talent in 2025 and reached the grand final, becoming one of the most widely seen Christian voices on Dominican television that season.
El Tamarindo
Arias is from El Tamarindo and has described herself as shaped by humble, hardworking roots. She has said she felt the pull of music from early childhood — "desde niña sentí que nací para esto" — but put it aside for years before returning to it. She has framed that return as an act of worship rather than ambition, and as a message to anyone who has had to wait: "si soy alguien hoy, es por Él".
Dominicana's Got Talent
Her audition, broadcast in October 2025, was built on Cuán grande es Él — the Spanish setting of How Great Thou Art. She dedicated the performance to God and drew four yeses and a standing ovation, with judges visibly moved; it was reported as one of the most emotional moments of the season.
In the semifinal of February 5, 2026 she advanced on public vote in a close contest, again taking four yeses and an ovation. One judge remarked that the song had healed even the plants on the set. She reached the grand final at the Sala Manuel Rueda, broadcast on Color Visión and followed by around a million viewers on YouTube, where she performed Me toca a mí. The season’s title went to the dance group Da Republik Junior.
Arias said during the competition that after God, music is her engine, and that if she won she wanted to put the prize toward improvements at her church.
