Biography

Mariela Valdez, born Mariela Pérez, is a Dominican worship singer from Santo Domingo Norte who works out of New York. She records under the name Ministerios Mariela Valdez, a ministry that combines music with preaching rather than performance alone, and has released a body of worship songs since around 2021.

The recordings

Her most widely heard song is No Soy Digno, recorded with Jairo Frías. Escrito Está and Hay Poder followed, along with Intimidad, Es por Tu Gracia and Al Que Venció — a catalogue built mostly of slow congregational worship, released as lyric videos alongside full productions.

In Que Se Abran Los Cielos she sings with Yamilka and Isabelle Valdez, two established voices in Dominican evangelical music. Her album is titled Dios es fiel.

Ministry and audience

Valdez's work sits at a scale that most Dominican worship music actually occupies, the one that never reaches labels or press. Her catalogue runs to more than 140 videos, built and circulated without a label.

The ministry is not only musical. Her own description of it puts music, worship and preaching together, and much of what she posts is reflection and teaching rather than song. That combination — the singer who also preaches — is common in Dominican evangelical practice, though it is rarely named as such.

No label, no press

Valdez works with no label, no press and no team behind her: there is no public birth date, no career chronology, no press coverage. Everything that circulates of her comes from her own channels. That gap is typical of the tier she works in, where the music exists but nothing around it ever gets written down.
