DJ Aneudy — Aneudy Reynoso, from Salcedo — is a Dominican DJ and radio host in New York, known on air as El Gigante. He mixes on Mega 97.9 and is one of the leads on its morning show, El Vacilón de la Mañana.

Early years and formation

He was born and raised in Salcedo and emigrated to New York, where the first work he found was in laundries and factories. That is the ordinary Dominican arrival, and it is where the biggest Spanish-language morning show in the city found one of its voices.

La Mega

He got into Mega 97.9 around 2008 as a music mixer on a rotating shift — the slot you fill when nobody has decided you are anybody yet. He held it, and then built something out of it: mixing live on air while carrying the entertainment segments, which is two jobs at once and not how the role is usually done.

He has been a fixture of New York Dominican mornings for well over a decade, and El Vacilón de la Mañana is where he does it.

The mixes

The mixing is típico and merengue first. His long-form mixes are how a lot of the diaspora hears the genre, and the one built around El Prodigio and La Super Banda is among the ones that circulated furthest.

He also produces. Artists have described him offering to write a song, arrange it and play every instrument on it himself, which places him on the making side of the music and not only the playing side.
