Yamilka — Yamilka Del Rosario Aristy, born December 22, 1988 in Santo Domingo — is a Dominican worship singer and songwriter. She spent her early career singing behind other people, as a backing vocalist for Tercer Cielo and Isabelle Valdez, and later on tour with Barak, before building a solo catalogue that has reached audiences in the tens of millions.

Behind the microphone first

Yamilka came up as a corista — the backing vocalist role that carries an enormous amount of Dominican worship music and is almost never credited in any lasting way. She sang for Tercer Cielo and for Isabelle Valdez, two of the most established acts in the Dominican evangelical scene, which is as thorough a training as the genre offers.

From 2016 she worked with Barak, touring as a vocalist on their Radical Live run and taking part in the group's Kabed DVD recording. The connection proved durable in another way: Ángelo Frilop, Barak's director, has produced her records ever since.

Solo recordings

Her debut album, Incomparable, came in 2014 — ten tracks produced by Frilop, carrying the single Lléname. Todopoderoso followed in 2019, and Lugar de Rompimiento in 2022, that one built around collaborations with other Christian artists.

Llévame a Ti, recorded with Dianette Méndez, is by some distance her most heard recording, and a massive success. A Dios Sea La Gloria follows it, then Recuérdame, released through Frilop Music, with the live concert film En Lo Secreto and Jericó behind them. She is credited as co-writer of both the words and music of Recuérdame alongside Frilop, as she is on much of her catalogue.

Sin Distracciones

Her most recent project is the EP Sin Distracciones, again with Dianette Méndez, released across 2026. Tú Me Haces Falta, Llévame a Ti and Mañana Me Irá Mejor appeared over consecutive weeks.

She has also appeared alongside Mariela Valdez and Isabelle Valdez on Que Se Abran Los Cielos, and has recorded with Arisa and Artelis through Frilop Music. In 2024 she appeared in the Dominican film Justo a Tiempo.

Recognition

Yamilka has been recognised repeatedly at Premios El Galardón, the principal awards for Spanish-language Christian music, in the Female Artist of the Year category across 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2024, having first been nominated as a breakthrough artist in 2015.

Her trajectory is a common one in Dominican worship and an easy one to miss from outside: years of uncredited work behind established acts, then a solo career built on the relationships and the craft that work produced. The Barak connection did not simply give her exposure — it gave her a producer, and that partnership has shaped everything she has released.
