Averly Morillo is a Dominican worship singer and songwriter born on September 23, 2003 in Gaspar Hernández, in the northern province of Espaillat. She rose from posting acoustic covers on Instagram during the 2020 pandemic to become one of the most widely heard female voices in Spanish-language contemporary worship, touring across Latin America and the United States before her mid-twenties. She is currently based in New York.

Early life and beginnings

Morillo grew up in Gaspar Hernández in a household where worship was part of daily life. Her father played guitar, and she was raised alongside her brother in a family that made music together — the informal apprenticeship common to many Dominican musicians, where repertoire and technique are absorbed at home and in church long before any formal training.

Her public career began in 2020, when she started posting acoustic cover videos to Instagram shortly before the COVID-19 lockdowns. She described the intent as offering relief and encouragement to listeners seeking closeness with God. The videos circulated quickly, and the timing mattered: with congregations unable to gather, worship music moved onto phone screens, and a young singer with a home camera could reach an audience that would previously have required a label and a radio campaign.

Discovery and first recordings

Robert Green, producer and member of the group Barak, saw the Instagram videos and recommended her for the festival Buscando Adoradores para Cristo, where she placed second. That introduction led to a working relationship with Green as her producer and to recording contracts with Green Music LLC and Sky Music Productions.

Her debut single, Ante Tu Altar, was released in 2021 and recorded at the Tabernáculo de Adoración church in Santo Domingo, with writing credited to Adonis De León and Robert Green. It established the register she would become known for: unhurried, hymn-like arrangements built around a voice that carries the song without ornament. Derramo el Perfume followed the same year. A live album drawn from the Ante Tu Altar material was recorded in May 2022 and reissued as a tour edition in 2023, the year she also released the acoustic EP Más Íntimo.

Collaborations and wider reach

In 2024 Morillo recorded Exaltación with Redimi2, the Dominican rapper whose crossover between hip hop and Christian music had already made him one of the country's most visible faith-based artists, and El Nombre with the Colombian worship collective Un Corazón. Other widely circulated recordings include ¿Quién Podrá?, Santo Espíritu, and Tuyo Es El Reino with pastor Yesenia Then. Her catalogue continued into 2026 with Victoria.

These collaborations placed her within a transnational Spanish-language worship circuit that runs between the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, and the Hispanic congregations of the United States — a network in which Dominican artists have become disproportionately influential relative to the country's size.

Touring and recognition

The Mesías Tour carried her through Ecuador, Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the United States, closing on December 15, 2024 at the Pabellón de Voleibol of the Centro Olímpico in Santo Domingo — a homecoming date in the country she had left to build the career. In 2026 she mounted the Presencia Tour across the United States, with dates in Virginia, Washington DC, Florida, Rhode Island, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas.

She has been nominated by Premios Arpa, El Galardón Internacional, and Premios AMCL, and was nominated for Contemporary Religious Music at the 2026 Premios Soberano, the Dominican Republic's principal arts awards, in a category that also included Barak.

A career born on a phone

Morillo belongs to the first generation of Dominican artists whose careers were built natively on social platforms rather than through radio, labels, or television.
