Judy Santos —born in Sleepy Hollow, New York, on 17 June 1981— is a Dominican-American bachata singer and songwriter, best known as the female voice of Aventura’s «Obsesión» and now a solo artist based in New York, where she is billed as “The Original Voice”.

From school choirs to «Obsesión»

She began singing as a child in her school’s children’s groups and with relatives. In 2002 she got her opening as the female voice opposite Romeo Santos (no relation) on «Obsesión», from Aventura’s album «We Broke the Rules»; the song topped the charts in several European countries, among them Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. She returned for «La Guerra» (2003, from «Love & Hate») and «Angelito» (2005), which reached number 17 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart, and later sang as a guest on Toby Love’s «Yo quiero saber» and «Tú y yo».

A solo career

Her solo work starts around 2015 with «Tú Tienes Tu Vida», which registered on Billboard’s tropical chart; «No Hay Colores» (2016) paired her again with Toby Love. Other singles followed —«Secreto», «Loca», «Demos Paso Al Amor»— along with «Judy Santos Live», a concert album made online while the pandemic kept venues closed, and «All By Myself», a duet with Wilmore “Bimbo” Franco. In May 2021 she released «No Me Rendiré», co-written and produced by Chris Hierro, with a video directed by Iván Castillo, and distributed by «La Oreja Media Group»; she said the audience chose it through a poll, and it reached number 24 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart that year.

Back with Aventura

On 9 October 2021 she reunited with Aventura at MetLife Stadium to sing «Obsesión» at the group’s final concert of its reunion tour.

Legacy

On 10 July 2026 she released «Tócame el alma», a romantic bachata written with Eddie Espinal and produced by Erickson Zavala. Diario Libre reported that on 9 August she would be the only artist representing bachata on the main stages of the SummerStage festival in New York, after a 2026 in which she also performed the show «Una Dosis De To’» in New York and gave a special presentation for students at Boston College.
