Angel Brown is a Dominican Christian urban artist. He registers his publishing as Ángel Brown Abreu, and that name sits in the credits of some of the most heard Dominican Christian records of the last decade while his own catalogue has stayed small. The shape is unusual and it is the thing to know about him: he is heard far more often on other people’s records than on his own.

Por Un Like

In 2018 he sang on Por Un Like with Redimi2 and Lizzy Parra, a song about social media and the appetite it feeds. It was nominated at that year’s Premios AMCL and it carried all three to a much larger audience. Writing about Lizzy Parra years afterwards, Telemundo still identified her by it. The track sits on Redimi2’s Trapstornadores.

The records with Lizzy Parra

He and Lizzy Parra have made a run of records together. Cielo came in 2022 as a shared EP, released through Nain Music and nominated at the Premios AMCL, with its video nominated at the Premios El Galardón the following year and Parra directing. Bandera Blanca followed the same year, a song about the restoration of a marriage. Cerrado Por Decepciones belongs to the same stretch, and he appears on Alguien Como Tú alongside Ada Betsabé.

Ayer No Es Hoy

His own EP came out as a run of visualizers: Socorro, Voy Pallá, Traición with Uptimo, the title track, and De Vuelta. Around it sit singles going back several years — Un Milagro, No Me Dejarás, Vivo x Ti, Cansado, Memorias, Proverbios, Nada, Otro Año.

The titles do the work the genre asks of them. Ayer No Es Hoy is the argument the whole EP is making, and Traición and De Vuelta stand on either side of it.

Adorador

He describes his own work in two words rather than as a career: a worshipper who loves God’s presence. Alongside the music he gives his occupation as Ministerio Identidad Urbana, a work that exists in his own account of it rather than in any public record.
