Biography

Martox is a Dominican Caribbean pop duo from Santiago de los Caballeros, comprising vocalist Juan Miguel Martínez and producer Eduardo Baldera. Their music connects R&B and electronics with tropical rhythms and Dominican songwriting traditions. Friends since childhood, they have developed a project in which singing, composition and production complement one another.

Early songs and covers

Their early work was linked to Santiago's «MITEL DICO» collective, including appearances on projects by Diego Raposo and «La Ñapa», alongside covers shared on SoundCloud. In February 2019 they released their reinterpretation of «Amapola» by Juan Luis Guerra, who shared it on his social accounts, bringing the duo wider exposure. They also released their first EP, «Canciones Que Puedes Usar En Mi Contra», that year, exploring R&B, ballads and electronic music.

From «Un Bolero» to «Baila!»

In 2021 they released «Un Bolero» and «Se Siente Diferente». Their second EP moved toward synth-pop, funk and disco, featuring jonás on «Mucho Mejor» and Gian Rojas of Solo Fernández on «Pausa». Its five songs were accompanied by interconnected videos directed by Jorge Guillén and Víctor Cantisano. The 2023 EP «Baila!» continued their exploration of dance music.

A Caribbean musical language

In July 2024 they released «Que Bien Te Queda El Caribe», a five-track EP containing «Canela» and «Y Qué» with Lena Dardelet, as well as collaborations with Nikóla and GioBulla. In 2025 they presented «Un Pambiche», featuring El Prodigio on accordion. The recording brought their contemporary production approach into merengue and was accompanied by a video directed by Víctor Cantisano.

«Caracol» and wider collaborations

A seven-song first installment of «Caracol» appeared in September 2025; an expanded version followed in May 2026, presented as their first studio album. Its repertoire brings bachata, merengue and bolero together with R&B and electronic production. Their 2026 collaborations included «TU SUPITE» with Leslie Grace and «Paraíso» with La Cassandra. That year YouTube Music named Martox among the participants in «Foundry Rising», its program supporting artists at an earlier stage of their development on the platform.

Legacy

Martox contributes to the development of Dominican pop through its singer-and-producer partnership. Their work connects Santiago's independent scene with a Caribbean repertoire open to electronic experimentation and exchanges with other performers.
