Lady Laura, known as “La Morena del Swing” —born Laura Isabel Polanco Jaime in Villa Altagracia— is a Dominican bachata singer who rose to popularity through social media in 2019 and has since shared stages with several of the genre’s leading names.

Beginnings and a name from her audience

According to her official biography, she began singing as a child in the choir of a church in her community, and in 2018 a fourth place and the audience prize at a major bachata festival led her to record «La mejor versión de mí», the song popularized by Natti Natasha, in a professional studio. Social media made her known in early 2019; once she began to be hired for shows, her followers started calling her “La Morena del Swing” themselves, so the stage name came from the public rather than from a label.

Covers and originals

In 2019 she recorded «Te pareces tanto a él», a song by Myriam Hernández, and from October 2023 she has performed a bachata version of Karol G’s «Mi ex tenía razón», whose video, directed by «Controles Films», was well received on radio. Her own repertoire includes «Pude» and «Confieso». In August 2025 she released «Quedarme con él», written by Carina Quisquella Martín Muñoz, distributed by «La Oreja Media Group» and filmed in her hometown; «Me frisó», with Crazy Design, followed a month later.

On stage

That October of 2023 she was announced for the «Festival ADN Bachata» in Puerto Plata, scheduled for 16 to 20 November. On 21 March 2024 she performed when the «Bulevar de las Estrellas», on Avenida Winston Churchill in Santo Domingo, dedicated stars to Luis Segura, José Manuel Calderón and Leonardo Paniagua; shortly before she had joined Prince Royce on stage in Santiago de los Caballeros for «Me enRD», in mixes by DJ Adoni. A press release published by Diario Libre says that Antony Santos, Joe Veras, El Chaval de la Bachata, Romeo Santos and Prince Royce have praised her talent, and her official biography adds that she has also shared stages with Antony Santos and Frank Reyes.

Legacy

In March 2026 she was among the bachata artists on «Reina de Corazones», the third volume of the «Bchta Rising» compilation series, together with Yammy. She has also announced a further collaboration with a Dominican urban artist.
