Biography

Profeta Lirical — Jeyson Rey Piñeiro Azcona, born December 22, 1992 in Bajos de Haina, San Cristóbal — is a Dominican Christian rapper. He has described himself as a minister of urban music, and has kept a catalogue running for more than a decade largely outside the label system.

Beginnings

He gave his life to Christ in 2008 and began working in music in 2010. Bajos de Haina, the industrial port town west of the capital, is not where Dominican Christian music is usually documented from; it is better known for its refinery and its smelter than for its rappers.

Verdades

His first album, Verdades, arrived in 2016 after a long build. The promotional single Sigo Contento, cut with Chelo Home and produced by Sr. Pérez at LP Studio, had gone out in February 2015, described at the time as lyrics taken from scripture and pointed at a changing society. The finished record ran to roughly ten tracks: Intro, Profeta Lirical, Así Estaba Yo, Sigo Contento, Lo Mataron, Cristo, Ella with John Solano, Por Ti with Dorka Pierre, Se Cansó De Mi and Valió La Pena.

The catalogue since

Alfarero followed in 2018 and remains among his best-known recordings. Like U came in 2020 with Génesis Colón as guest — a feature that predates her own catalogue by three years, and sits oddly early in the career of an artist who would not turn professional until the end of 2023. He appeared the same year on Isaías 60-2 with Suficiente. No Sé Mañana followed in 2022, then Viviendo and an unplugged reading of Por Ti in 2023.

In 2024 he cut UAIO OE with Alex Linares, and a remix of it with R Nova and Otoniel JM’s. Sola En La Cita, with Ruth Esther, came the same year, as did a remix of Droga, Pistola, Mujeres with Uptimo, Freddy Alca, Randy SB and Adol Nuñez. Mensaje Básico arrived in 2026, and Aguacero on the EP La Bendita Amenaza.
