Juan Esteban Ponciano Sánchez is a Dominican bassist associated with the Christian music scene in Santo Domingo. He played with Grupo Hope during its years as a performing group and belongs to a family of worship musicians: his older brother, Ezequiel Ponciano, founded Kabed.

Early musical work

By 2018 Esteban belonged to «AdoraSion», a worship band. He was already active in the Christian music scene in which his brother Ezequiel also worked.

Grupo Hope

On the 2022 recording «Rodeado», he shared the bass credit with Jhonny Anderson. When Grupo Hope introduced «Monte Sinaí» in May 2023, Esteban was the group's bassist and spoke on its behalf at the single's launch. After developing songs and performances with several vocalists, the project announced a new phase as a worship platform in 2026.

Legacy

Esteban Ponciano's career links his time with «AdoraSion» to the recordings and performances of Grupo Hope. His bass playing is part of a collective body of music that continued to grow as the group added the training and support of new worship leaders to its work.
