Kabed is a Dominican Christian worship group formed in 2015 at the Tabernáculo de Adoración church in Santo Domingo Este. Bassist and musical director Ezequiel Ponciano led its founding lineup, which included his wife Yuleisy Canela and singers Amaury Hernández and Karen Ponciano.
First recordings
Pianist Abdiel Medina and drummer Lizmike Liriano completed the early ensemble. Kabed made its first official appearance on 25 January 2016 at the Somos 1 youth convention. Its first single, «Inúndanos», appeared on 6 May 2016 with production work by Amos Ferreras and vocal direction by Robert Green of Barak. The group's first album was «Apasionados Live». In 2017 Kabed received the El Galardón award for Revelation of the Year.
Songs and collaborators
Amaury Hernández and Ezequiel Ponciano wrote «Cantaremos Victoria», released in 2020. Credits for «A Donde Huiré» list Ezequiel, Yuleisy Canela and Junior Ponciano as writers. Kabed's official video credits name Ezequiel as composer, producer and bassist of «Sopla», with Canela on lead vocals and Laila Olivera as a guest. The group later recorded «Favor & Gracia» in Maryland and continued releasing music after Hernández's death in July 2024; its 2025 recordings include «Uso Honorable» and «Job», the latter with Karen Ponciano.
Legacy
Kabed's history spans its 2016 debut, a national Christian music award and subsequent recordings made in the Dominican Republic and the United States. The group's repertoire documents the contributions of several singers and writers, while Ponciano's leadership and production link its founding and later phases.
