Karen Ponciano is a Dominican Christian singer and worship leader. She sang in the founding lineup of Kabed, shared a music ministry with her husband Amaury Hernández, and has continued recording as an independent artist.

From Hato Mayor to Santo Domingo

She was born in Santo Domingo after her mother was taken there for emergency care and returned to Hato Mayor as an infant. She spent her childhood there before moving back to the capital at about eleven or twelve. Her church participation began in dance. An invitation to sing «Yo Te Busco» during a service later drew her into vocal worship.

Kabed and shared ministry

In 2015 she joined the original lineup of Kabed at the Tabernáculo de Adoración church in Santo Domingo Este. The group made its official debut in January 2016 and released «Inúndanos» that May. She also developed a music ministry with Amaury Hernández; both served as worship leaders at Tabernáculo de Adoración.

Continuing to record

After Hernández's death in July 2024, Karen ended their shared project and continued singing independently. As Karen Ponciano Ministry she released «Yo Navegaré» in May 2025 and recorded «Job» with Kabed that October. In 2026 she joined her sister Carolina Ponciano on Hope W Music's «Te Mostraré Mi Gloria»; the release also credits her as a writer alongside Junior Ponciano.

Legacy

Her career links Kabed's first vocal lineup with her later work as a singer and songwriter. The 2025 and 2026 recordings document her continuing presence in collaborative and individual projects.
