Junior Ponciano is a Dominican Christian pastor, songwriter and worship singer from Santo Domingo. He founded the youth movement Somos 1 and has contributed songs to the worship repertoire of Kabed and Grupo Hope.

Ministry and music

A son of pastors Santiago and Norelys Ponciano, he grew up in the Tabernáculo de Adoración church and learned piano in its worship ministry. He established Somos 1 in 2014 as a gathering for Christian youth. Kabed made its first official appearance at a Somos 1 convention on 25 January 2016. At the 2018 Aviva Joven congress he presented his book «No Soy Santo: Gasté su Gracia».

Songwriting and collaborations

He is credited alongside Ezequiel Ponciano and Yuleisy Canela as a writer of Kabed's «A Donde Huiré», recorded in 2021. He wrote «Rodeado» for Grupo Hope; the group's 2022 release featured his aunt Carolina Ponciano and Misael J. In 2026 he was credited as a writer and executive producer of «Te Mostraré Mi Gloria», performed by Hope W Music, Carolina Ponciano and Karen Ponciano, who is also a co-writer. That year he continued to lead Somos Uno and announced its Fundación Misión Uno initiative.

Legacy

His work combines pastoral leadership, writing, and Christian songwriting. Somos 1 provided a stage for Kabed's debut, while «A Donde Huiré», «Rodeado», and «Te Mostraré Mi Gloria» connect his ministry with other Dominican worship voices.
