Aposento Alto was a Dominican Christian rap group, formed in 2007 in San Luis. Over nine years and six albums it became the central act of Dominican Christian hip hop, and nearly every rapper working in the genre today passed through it or came up alongside it.

The six

The founding line-up was six: Franklin Pérez (Sr. Pérez), Natanael Philippe (Natan El Profeta), Esteban Philippe (El Philippe), Noemí Martínez (La Noe Aposento Alto), Lors El Prieto (Lors) and Omar Sánchez (Vizkel). The two Philippes are brothers. Lors and Vizkel left in 2011, and the remaining four carried the group through the rest of its run.

Holy Jamz and the first record

They appeared publicly for the first time in December 2007 at an event called Holy Jamz, where they presented A Precio de Sangre. The record ran to nineteen tracks; its promotional single, Jala, was the song that carried them. The tour of the same name, through 2008, is what made them known across the country.

El Último Testamento took them out of the country: the tour that followed reached New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Boston and Massachusetts. They were named best urban group at Premios El Galardón in 2014 and again in 2017. Almas, in 2016, was the last album they made together.

After

Each went to their own work. El Philippe released Espíritu Libre in 2018 and Dios, Familia & Rap in 2022; Natan El Profeta released Oveja Entre Lobos in 2019 and Modo Leyenda in 2022; La Noe Aposento Alto released Cuerda & Caja in 2019. The two brothers kept recording together as Los Hermanos del Rap, releasing Isaías 60-2 in 2020 and Fe in 2022.
