Biography

El Philippe — Esteban Philippe — is a Dominican Christian rapper. He was a founding member of Aposento Alto in 2007 and stayed through its final album, and he has since built the largest solo catalogue of anyone who came out of that group. He is one of six siblings; Natan El Profeta is his brother.

Aposento Alto and after

He was there from the debut at Holy Jamz in December 2007 through Almas in 2016, alongside his brother, La Noe Aposento Alto, Sr. Pérez, Lors El Prieto and Omar Sánchez. When the group ended he and his brother kept working together as Los Hermanos del Rap, releasing Isaías 60-2 in 2020 and Fe in 2022.

He appears on Trapstorno, the 2018 record with Redimi2, his brother and Rubinsky RBK that carried Dominican Christian rap furthest outside its own audience.

The solo catalogue

  • Espíritu Libre (2018), reissued as a live edition in 2024 and a limited edition in 2025,

  • Wow (2019),

  • Dios, Familia & Rap (2022),

  • Manual de Supervivencia (2023),

  • Hip Hop Cristiano, Limited Edition (2024),

  • AURORA (2025), and Cerca de Dios the same year,

  • and a run of singles through 2026 — Agradecido, Realidad, Yo Toy Con Dios, Dime Quién, El Conteo 2k26 and Entre Lágrimas y Fe.

No Religión, Tengo Más, Me Sorprendes and Borracho are among the songs he is known for. He releases through his own imprint, Philippe Records.

Rapero Cristiano vs Rapero Ateo

In August 2020 he released an EP with the secular rapper Zodiaco Rdk, made after the two of them had faced each other in a rap battle. It carries a single track running twenty-four minutes — a Christian rapper and an atheist rapper arguing it out at length, issued as a record rather than left as a viral clip.

Working across the line

The Zodiaco record was not an isolated crossing. He has featured on tracks with Poeta Callejero and with Bulova, both secular Dominican urban artists, as well as with Ander Bock, Brayan Booz, Chris Lebron and Nipo809.
